Is this how Germans celebrate Thanksgiving?

I heard in Germany, Thanksgiving is called like Kristallnacht and it is when the Germans forgive the Jews for ruining the economy which led to stores being smashed and eventually the war and holocaust. Is this true, I think so. My friend told me that the Jews also invite Germans to their house and cook them a meal. He said that the meal needs to be cooked in a gas oven, much like how we bake a turkey? Can anyone confirm this? It seems a bit far fetched seeing how only Americans, and not Jews celebrate Thanksgiving. Why would they celebrate this in Germany? Please help me this if for a project for school. Thanks, or how they say in Germany, "DANKE!"
