Which complete works of shakespeare is most student friendly? RSC or Norton?
I'm a high school english teacher and plan on giving the student with the highest overall GPA in my cles a complete works of Shakespeare. The Riverside is out of the question--as that is a bit too for high school juniors and seniors. The Norton has the most glosses, explanations, and introductory essays and in that sense might be very helpful but the RSC has the most pleasant page layout and seems easy to read. Any thoughts? Maybe another edition that I don't know about? I have the Complete Pelican as my own personal edition, i like it but I think it might be a bit too bare bones for a student. I teach in an inner city area.
